Remember, these are our choices, so sorry if we missed out your all time favourite band! It’s only a short list. We could have made it a top 50, but 10 seemed a bit more doable. So enjoy, and see you there. In no particular order, here are our picks… Chon Technical… Read More →

Exclusive | Watch Campfires perform new song ‘Raucous Fashionista’

Campfires Band Leeds

They’ve been in hiding for a while, but finally, Leeds trio Campfires are back on form with a new line-up and live session. It’s always a bit of a weird one when a band goes through a line-up change. Things can quickly go off track. Old members can get arsey, new members can be hard to find and new music can be really difficult to write. But, with Campfires, the transition – from an onlooker’s perspective – has been nothing if not seamless. The math pop three-piece – consisting of founding member Chris Milnes, and new additions Matthew Byrne and David Smith – have been busy perfecting their new sound since September last year. And whilst they’ve been somewhat quiet over the past 6 months, the band have actually… Read More →

MM Recommends | Alpha Male Tea Party & Valerian Swing In Leeds

Alpha Male Tea Party, Valerian Swing, Body Hound, Gig, Leeds

Brace yourselves kids, ’cause Alpha Male Tea Party are coming to Leeds at the start of April, and they’re bringing Valerian Swing and Body Hound with them too. Sometimes, when we write a gig preview here at MM, we’ve got a lot to say. There might be a new, completely unheard of band playing a show in fuck-knows-where that we want people to go to, or there might be a festival coming up that has an immense line-up. But, sometimes we have nothing to say. Sometimes there are just gigs. Just great gigs, with great bands that – in our opinion – everyone should already know about. But, the great thing about math rock and instrumental music is, there’s still a fuck load of people… Read More →

MM Recommends | Usurp Rise & Patchwork Natives in Brighton

Usurp Rise

Three of our favourite up-coming artists – Usurp, Rise, Patchwork Natives and Orchards – all play a FREE show at The Gladstone in Brighton on the 8th of November Brighton is increasingly becoming a beacon for math-rock and instrumental music in the UK. It’s home to some of the scene’s most memorable artists, and it’s grown to be a staple for touring bands from all over the country. But what’s best about the Southern positioned City, is the amount of fresh, new musical talent it constantly churns out. And whilst some of those new bands can often miss the mark, or come to a gradual stand-still, three bands that have really caught our attention in the last 6 months are set to play… Read More →
